I provide both business coaching and business consultancy but there is an important difference.
In business coaching I am working through you to improve your business.
My objective is to transfer the relevant parts of my knowledge to you. If you want a business plan, I will teach you how to write a business plan. I’ll review your early drafts and provide encouraging but constructive feedback so that you learn how to write a better business plan.
In business consultancy my focus is on completing the agreed work activity.
If you want a business plan, I will write your business plan. While you will have a good plan you won’t have learnt how to do it yourself because the focus is on the task rather than the transfer of knowledge.
Business Coach or Business Consultant
Depending on your objectives and the work situation, either may be the right solution.
For example I don’t want to know how to be a better car mechanic so I’m only interested in paying someone to do that task.
You may not want to know how to write a business plan or a marketing letter and therefore you are prepared to pay someone else to do the work.
The choice of business coaching or business consultancy is yours.
Importance Of Distance
Most of my coaching is over the telephone but consultancy often requires extensive visits to your premises. This means that while my coaching is available throughout the UK, my consultancy services are based around central England.
