Are You Confused About Just What Business Coaching Is?

There is some confusion over just what business coaching is.

The use of the word "coaching" has become popular in recent years but it is used in different contexts by different people although there is some crossover.

In particular there is confusion between business coaching, executive coaching and life coaching.

When I talk about business coaching and business mentoring and describe myself as a business coach my focus is on you business. 

My goal is to make your business bigger, stronger, more profitable - however you chose to define success.
 
I do that by providing, training, support and advice about the business issues you face using my Eight Pillars Of Business Growth and Profit approach.

Executive coaching (or executive mentoring) is focused on the specific role of the director or manager and aims to improve the performance of that person in that particular role (as well as preparing the person for future promotions).

For existing clients we sometimes provide mentoring services for new employees or in situations where the business circumstances suddenly change but we don’t generally look for new clients for executive coaching.

Life coaching is focused on the individual and how they can achieve their own personal goals and overcome particular constraints and circumstances.

We don't provide life coaching.

Life coaching is a specialist area and our specialist skills, qualifications and continued study and learning are in business management and development and not in psychology or human behaviour.

But please be assured, in my business coaching I do recognise the importance of the work-life balance. If you are an owner-manager, then it is essential that your business is seen as a separate entity but managed in a way that fits with your own personal objectives and values.
