Profile

I am a pragmatic and experienced Chartered Accountant based in Reading, Berkshire who has held senior financial/administrative roles in companies in the IT software solutions, consulting and business-to-business professional services sectors. 

I have an excellent track record on making a positive impact on people and businesses I have worked with, and in each case have become a key member of the management team. 

After 20+ years spent working in companies of all sizes from start-up to £25m turnover I have wide-ranging financial, legal and administrative management experience and in addition have exceptional contacts able to provide the appropriate level of support in a number of related disciplines.

Previous roles have typically ranged in resource terms from only one day a month to three days a week, and whilst each assignment is supported by a formal contract I am generally able to be flexible to fulfil short-term exceptional needs.

An experienced FD is an integral part of every well managed organisation, but the cost is not always justified five days a week.  Whether you are presently an early stage start-up or an established company there is a compelling business case for strong financial management and the part-time FD role is the efficient and cost effective answer, providing growth and development opportunity to your business and enabling senior management to focus on the operations.

Whilst the position of an FD in a small or medium sized business is mainly centred on sound financial management, the actual role is often far wider.

Associate Director at a firm of transport engineers (£7m turnover, 90 staff) responsible for all finance matters across the multi-site UK organisation.

Head of Finance & Central Services at a software developer (£4m turnover, 40 staff).

Executive Board Member, Finance Director and Company Secretary, at a Software and Services group in IT communications sector (£18m turnover, 160 staff), with responsibility for finance and administration at:
  • Acquired subsidiary (£1m turnover 16 staff), management of turnaround opportunity
     
  • Established subsidiary (£4m turnover 25 staff) financial management and integration with group

  • Three international start-ups (USA, Australia, Dubai)
Direct Marketing subsidiary (£8m turnover, 40 staff) initial financial management and relocation.
