Michael Gerber's The E-Myth Revisited should be required reading for anyone thinking about starting a business or for those who have already taken that fateful step.

The title refers to the author's belief that entrepreneurs--typically brimming with good but distracting ideas--make poor businesspeople.

He establishes an incredibly organised and regimented plan, so that daily details are scripted, freeing the entrepreneur's mind to build the long-term success or failure of the business.

E Myth Mastery

Michael Gerber builds on previously defined philosophies to reveal why entrepreneurs are critical to the success of any enterprise, in a guide that discusses seven key skills in the areas of leadership, money management, and customer service.

The content of the second part of this book, where Michael Gerber takes you through some of the E Myth Worldwide coaching practices and systems is very strong.

I would recommend that you avoid the CD set E Myth Mastery as it doesn't have these techniques. It just has Michael Gerber reading out the first part of the book where he starts to explore his current thinking but in a very sentimental way that may not appeal to a British reader.

This is clearly the start of his journey to his current project The Dreaming Room as he has realised that the E Myth solves small business problems but without the dream or clear visions, small business owners stop when they reach a comfort zone.

There is no problem with that where it is a deliberate choice but some of these businesses could achieve much more and have much more of a positive effect on society if the franchise prototype is replicated.

E Myth Manager

Drawing on lessons learned from working with 15000 corporations, Michael Gerber debunks common corporate myths about management and leading, exploring why every manager must take charge of his or her own life and develop an entrepreneurial mindset for both the individual and the organization.

You may find this a thought-provoking but perhaps uncomfortable read as it questions areas that you may have just accepted and taken for granted.
