Small Businesses Wanting To Stay Small But Increase Profits
Two categories - businesses with less than 5 employees and businesses with 5 to 30 employees.
Are you making any of these common mistakes that could be costing you a lot of money? - business owners, marketing, sales, finance, employees & teamwork.
Business Advice for Small Businesses With Less Than Five Employees
There are many lifestyle businesses that just have one or two employees and I recognise that budgets are very small.
If you have a business like this, then I know that you can't afford to spend a lot of money on professional business advisors.
Our “partners for profit” approach to business coaching based on sharing the extra profit generated is suitable for businesses that have a significant profit upside - call me, Paul Simister on 0121 554 4057 to learn more or email me at paul@plancs.co.uk and I'll call you back.
For other businesses, looking to increase profits by a few thousand pounds per year, our library on this website provides a large amount of free general advice on developing a business.
I have also added a few recommended books and audio programmes to buy and in particular I recommend materials from my favourite business guru's:
Jay Abraham,- marketing and profitable growth
Michael Gerber,- to make your business work better
Peter Thomson,- to improve personal productivity and communications
Brian Tracy - sales training, goal setting and leadership.
If you want more than self-help sources but you don't want to start a full business coaching programme I recommend that you take another look at your accountant or consider changing if necessary.
Many accountants are also business advisors and may be able to help you improve your sales and marketing. Your accountant has the advantage that he already has a business relationship with you and knowledge of your financial performance.
Larger small businesses (with about 5 to 30 employees)
While the advice for the smaller businesses still apply, I recommend that you consider our business coaching service.
This is a broad based business advisory programme but the focus is always on improving the profitability of your business.
Initially the coaching sessions would be face to face but as we build our relationship, it would switch to a more telephone and email based service so that fees can be maintained at a reasonable level.
The actual service will be tailored to the particular needs of your business.
If the business environment has been stable and there is little indication that things will be different in the next few years, we will focus our attention on helping you make incremental improvements.
Just because we are looking to make small changes to the way your business operates, the effect on performance can be dramatic as shown by the example in our 1% improvement plan which in some cases can double profits. Email me at paul@plancs.co.uk for more details of the 1% improvement plan or take a look at the example in the monthly financial review page.
If the external environment looks more uncertain because of recent or expected changes in regulations, competition, customer needs, technology or the wider economic environment we will encourage you to take a more strategic perspective.
If “tomorrow” is going to be different from “yesterday” then our aim is to help you and your company to adapt and seize the new market opportunities or to protect yourselves against expected threats more effectively than your competitors. In this situation more fundamental questions about the business have to be asked and answered.

Call me Paul Simister on 0121 554 4057 to discuss your options or email me at paul@plancs.co.uk. There is no cost or obligation.
